TRICARE Young Adult Prime Option available Jan. 1:
TRICARE Young Adult is a premium-based program that extends medical coverage to dependents up to age 26. Most dependents are eligible to purchase this plan if they are unmarried and under age 26, are not eligible for their own employer-sponsored health plan and the sponsor is TRICARE eligible/covered. Contact TRICARE for costs or go to the TRICARE website below. Cost shares/co-pays, deductibles and catastrophic caps vary by program option and the sponsor’s status. TYA beneficiaries already enrolled in the Standard/Extra option who wish to switch to Prime must submit a new TYA enrollment form and premiums will be automatically adjusted. New TYA beneficiaries must submit an enrollment form and the first three months’ premiums for the selected option. Health Net Federal Services must receive all forms by Dec. 20 for coverage to begin Jan. 1, 2012. For more information, visit http://www.tricare.mil/tya. Click here for a Comprehensive FAQ sheet
